With this final newsletter for 2025 we bid farewell to yet another year. As we’ve acknowledged in our end-of-year call for donations, 2025 has been even tougher than 2024 for many in our network.
In the face of considerable hardship, the Network and its members have continued their exciting work, showcasing and encouraging the study and research of, as well as public engagement in, environmental history across Australia, Aotearoa and further afield. For a ‘highlight reel’ of 2025, we encourage you to scroll back through our ‘News’ tab for a snapshot of everything members were involved in this year. We sincerely hope that 2026 brings greater certainty, rest, and opportunities to (re)connect.
While you’re resting over summer, why don’t you have a think about what you might want to present in the Australian Historical Association’s Green Stream for 2026? The theme is Changing Minds and abstracts are due 1 February 2026. See more details here.
If you find the Network’s newsletters, events and resources useful, we kindly ask that you consider donating to the Network. Donations are especially important for us to maintain the website and the newsletter.
The newsletter will return in February 2026. As always, all members are welcome to submit news items to Jess Urwin for inclusion. Just be sure to send some text and a copyright-free image to her new University of Tasmania email address and she will post it in an upcoming newsletter.
Wishing everyone a safe and restful summer with loved ones.
