International Consortium of Environmental History Organizations – Bulletin 6, Oct 2015
From the president:
Congratulations to ESEH on a great conference in Versailles in very hot weather in June, just as our last bulletin hit the press. Thank you to Dolly Jørgensen current President of ESEH, as well as Secretary of ICEHO, for giving us a full report of this meeting (see below).
Remember that our next World Congress is 2019. If you have a proposal for our Site Selection Committee recommending your University or Institution to host this, please contact them as soon as you can and before 1 December, 2015, the final deadline (more on this below)
We have a pleasing number of new members in ICEHO. We particularly welcome the new Turkish Environmental History Society, which hosts a number of events in Turkey this coming year. We also welcome the Aarhus-based Climate Culture Catastrophe Network. We encourage societies with national or thematic focus to join our international team so that people beyond the place of origin hear of your work, and find your webpages.
We also have members who are university departments, museums and any other institutions that undertake ‘environmental history’ at any scale, and who would like international recognition for their work. I have tried to get as many of our new members as possible to contribute to the Bulletin.
If you have news from your member institution – whether you are a publisher or a museum or a university department – I always welcome contributions. I am in Australia so don’t always hear of news in other parts of the world. You can write direct to me – or contact your local regional organizers listed at the end of the bulletin. Deadline for contributions to the next bulletin is 31 December 2015.
