Organised jointly by Australian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (AMOS) and Meteorological Society of New Zealand (MSNZ), the conference will be held in conjunction with the Australian/New Zealand Climate Forum (ANZCF) from Tuesday 7 to Friday 10 February 2017.
The overall theme is “Australasian weather, climate and oceans: past, present and future”.
As well as sessions within the main conference program, interesting proposals for workshops or “boot-camps” have been received. These will be held on Monday 6 February preceding the conference. The conference will organise computer laboratories and other teaching spaces to accommodate these workshops.
Abstract submission is now open. Submissions close first week September.
The following sessions might be of particular interest to historians:
C5 – Expecting climate – experiencing seasons: learning from history
C6 – The Anthropocene – are we there yet, and how would we know?
CI2 – Risk quantification and management in a changing climate
CI1 – Health in a changing climate: past knowledge, present risks, adapting for the future
C3 – Historical climatology: the recovery and analysis of historical climate information for Australia, New Zealand and the wider Southern Hemisphere
C4 – Past climate reconstruction and modelling (including paleoclimate reconstruction)
