Margaret Cook wins Pro Vice Chancellor (Science) Excellence in Research Impact Award

We are delighted to congratulate AANZEHN member and joint recipient our 2022 Public Environmental History Prize Dr Margaret Cook on her recent receipt of Griffith University’s Griffith University’s 2024 Pro Vice Chancellor (Science) Excellence in Research Impact Award for her book A River with a City Problem. Margaret received this award in recognition of the way the book ‘engage[s] with academics, stakeholder professions, industry, and communities to reconceptualise how we have managed and understood floods historically’.

The citation for the award commended Margaret on ‘highlight[ing] the current cultural impediments and lack of community awareness that retard proactive flood polices and actions, while offering practical solutions to how we can make communities safer and more climate resilient in the future’.

Congratulations Margaret!
