The Australian Historical Association (AHA) invites you to the second of two panels on the transition from HDR student to ECR.

This second lunchtime panel, scheduled for 12-1:30pm AWST (2-3:30pm AEST) Tuesday 19 August 2025, features AANZHEN committee member Jess Urwin (UTas), Laura Rademaker (ANU), and Deborah Lee-Talbot (Deakin & Historical Consultant at Colourful Histories). Registration is open to all AHA members.

This panel has been designed to answer some common questions encountered towards the end of your PhD: What happens after you finish your PhD? What is the Early Career Researcher stage, and how do you make the most of it? After a brief introduction from each panellist, you’ll get the chance to ask your questions about life post PhD. This event will be live and online but unrecorded, to encourage an open and frank discussion about one of the most oblique but important stages in an historian’s career.
